State Geom Column is not 100% accurate

description

The state geom was calculated by getting the union of all counties for each state. This resulted in a good enough geometry object, but not 100% accurate. It seems as if this causes an error when trying to create a geography object from the geometry class.

Also, I have noticed the polygon information includes strange gaps in the middle of the state, it almost looks like degenerate polygons. Hopwever the other files do not seem to suffer from this issue from first glance.

I don´t know what am I doing wrong, but a lot of states are displayed with strange lines in map. I save data to SQL Server 2008 R2 as Geometry type. See Attachment.
